Factory relocation

A client was closing down one of their factories and moving the processes into another factory. Roseground was approached originally to design and build the new areas the machines etc. were to be moved too.

As there was building work involved to get the machines out of the existing factory, we were asked to carry this out too. Eventually we advised the client we could carry out a turnkey operation and organize and manage, not only the build, however the removal, transportation and installation of the machinery coming down.

The plan was discussed for one process at first, which quickly then developed to the whole relocation which was 7 different processes that needed to be relocated in an agreed order.

As such Roseground carried out full surveys of each process to understand how they operate and the ordering of the process so the areas can be designed. Using very limited information on the machines themselves, we had to instruct a MEP design team to design the new ventilation, extraction, compressed air and vacuum systems for the new areas, so when they are taken down they can be fitted straight away.

This was a very challenging project due to working and coordinating across two sites, as well as having very little information on the machinery we were relocating.

Nevertheless, all stakeholders on the project came together and resulted in the successful relocation of all processes that are producing products in the same way they always have, in their new locations.

Our client’s brief was the construction of a new Clean Room to create a contamination free controlled environment for the manufacture of aircraft components.

The construction involved carrying out all building works around the existing manufacturing area to avoid disruption to works. The works consisted of:
